DTW Comment Guidelines

Driven To Write Guidelines for Commenters:

Driven to Write has been in operation since 2014 and one of the features that distinguishes our website very positively from many others within the automotive space is the quality and tone of the ‘below the line’ comments from our readers. This is something we value highly and will take all necessary steps to safeguard.

With this in mind, here are some guidelines to consider before posting a comment on DTW:

When commenting below the line, our expectation is for civility and respect to be shown for all opinions, whether they are expressed by DTW’s authors or other commenters.

While we tolerate commenters taking a robust line when challenging opinions, we will not accept rudeness or personal insults, whether directed at our authors or other commenters. Any comment adjudged to be offensive or insulting to any nationality, race, religion or minority group will be either moderated or removed entirely, depending on severity. Repeat offenders will be disbarred from commenting on the website. The editor’s decision on these matters is final.

There are plenty of websites where discussion and debate on matters of politics and current affairs are welcomed. We however take a broadly apolitical line at DTW and would ask that all commenters respect this.

We have neither the disposition nor the financial means to defend your desire to libel anyone, so please be mindful of your personal responsibility and potential liability in this regard. Any comment or allegation we deem to be of a libellous nature will be removed.

We reserve the right to take any action we deem appropriate to ensure this site is not disrupted or abused in any way. Similarly, we will remove all spam material, or blatant advertisements. Anyone we deem to be engaged in trolling or similarly disruptive behaviour will be barred.

DTW is not a revenue-generating site. We fund it from our own resources and it is sustained by the hard work of its founder-editors and the written contributions of its authors. Hence, all written contributions are of a voluntary nature and no monetary recompense can or will be offered.

We do not publish paid-for or promotional content of any sort, nor is there any intention on our part to do so. Hence all requests of this nature will result in a firm but polite refusal.

Driven To Write contains no advertising of any description and endeavours to be even-handed and impartial in our writing.
We have never gathered, used nor disseminated data about our website users, nor will we do so in the future.
