Sunday is a day of reflection. DTW would like to offer this image as the subject for today’s consideration.
The two cars are 1983 Mercedes W123’s: a 230 CE and a 280 CE. Both are the same colour whose proper name I don’t know. These park on my street and are owned by two people who don’t know each other. What a strange coincidence.
I am told this colour was only offered for a few years and yet we find two examples sharing the same street. The colour is not even the most golden gold Mercedes have offered. In 1972 a plutocrat or entrepreneur or managing director could order their S-class in the gold metallic shown below.
These days Henry Ford’s maxim seems to be in operation. I am fascinated with the relationship of colour and politics. I wonder can the range and saturation of car paint colours be correlated with the political tendencies of the electorate.
