I mentioned mid-range colours earlier. Here’s what I meant. Sorry, it’s another Ford. Down the road there parked one in goldy browny grey too.
Is this colour available in the UK? A similar colour appeared on Ghia Mondeo Mk2s and on a special edition Ka Mk1.
As an aside, the new Astra and newish Corsa are only appearing with lease-me colours: black, metallic grey and red. That confounds my launch colour theory.
Thought two: in a run-out period could zany colours be a cheap selling point? Is a cheerful paint colour the Fiat 500s main selling point now?
Run out, Richard? A new Fiat 500 was introduced last year. Are you saying you didn’t notice?
It was a facelift as I understood it. The basic car is from 2007.
You might think that, Richard. Fiat seem to think otherwise – surely they know…..?
I’m always cautious if cars are advertised as ‘new’. Often it’s just facelifts. The worst offender here is Suzuki. In their ads, virtually every car has New in its name, regardless of how long it’s been on the market. Maybe they think of new as opposed to used…
Simon: the new Corsa and new Galaxy spring to mind as well.
Going back to the original question, I have seen Fiestas of this colour in the UK. I like it a lot – I was once the keeper of an MGF in Volcano, which was a more orangy version of something similar.
I’ve been on the road these days and looked a lot for cars in unusual colours. And, despite our lamenting the greyness on our roads, I saw a fair deal of them. Especially the triangle between red, orange and brown yields some interesting hues which are used on many types of cars. I’ll post some pictures soon.
