Among the better features of Toyota’s large family car (now replaced) is the driver’s ashtray.

It’s well placed and a proper size. The illumination is from the side. The mechanism has a nice smoothly damped action and is a lower, horizontally hinged device.
Here it is when open. It holds about 60mls. The material is charmless cost-cutter’s black heat-resistant plastic.

This is what it looks like in action. We’ll be doing full videos of cars at this rate.
There are no ashtrays in the rear. Those cost-cutters again.
That must use the same damping mechanism (and plastics) as the tape deck of a Sony hi-fi I had in 1995.
Is it that bad? It didn’t wobble. Ford’s Mondeo and Citroen’s C5 are worse. I have harsher things to say about this car soon.
Not bad at all; it delivered the cassette with something approaching the cultured charm of a gentleman finished at Eton.
