This is a personal import, as far as I know, a 2002 Ford Explorer. It is noted for its use of independent suspension and transmission failure at 100,000 miles.

The vehicle turned up again on my street. A closer look at the handles revealed visible tool-split lines on the upper surfaces. There’s no excuse for that. Apart from that, the shapes are sensible though verging on the bland. I think Ford was aping VW design stringency minus the finesse.
The door handle designer is simply a fan of Brutalism.
