Is it a panel cut-line between the bottom of the rear light and the bumper?
Yes, it is. If you’d asked me to guess if there was one there, I’d have bet money on it.

yes! (not for this particular detail, but for the whole of the car)
They fixed that (too late) by 1991. It was the same problem as the XM: wiring, electric system. From where I stood the 605 looked neatly put together.
